In May 2021 the Independent Panel for Pandemic Preparedness and Response (IPPPR) presented its findings and recommendations for action to curb the Covid-19 pandemic and to ensure that any future infectious disease outbreak does not become another catastrophic pandemic. Ernesto Zedillo was one of the 13 members of the Independent Panel, led by Co-Chairs Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, the former President of Liberia and Helen Clark, the former Prime Minister of New Zealand who were appointed by the Director-General of the WHO.
